I miss the library! One of the last times I visited the library before COVID shut them down, was with Scott. We attended a local writers\’ event. The speaker was Greg Sarris, an author I had read before and the Chairman of the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria. The talk was so interesting covering Environmentalism, local Native American Culture, Casinos, and our Community. I remember Greg Sarris and the library gave away hundreds of his books for \”free\” until they ran out. Scott and I picked out a couple of books each to add to our reading stack. I remember good feelings that day, how wonderful it was to experience such generosity.
This afternoon, I finished Priya Basil\’s book \”Be My Guest\”: Reflections on Food, Community, and the Meaning of Generosity. I like books that celebrate and describe cultures, food, and experiences I am not familiar with. This book kept me interested through-out.
\”Be My Guest\” is my next book giveaway.
The first blog reader who emails me gets it:) Please place title of the book in your email so I know which giveaway it is.
Be My Guest
\”A brave and beautiful exploration into food, race, memory, and the very meaning of life. I read it greedily-and so will you.\”
